Jordan Spieth says he plans on watching “The Match” between Tiger and Phil

Wondering if any of the pros will be watching “The Match” between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson on the Friday after Thanksgiving? Well, we know of one who plans on paying the $19.99 to watch the $9 million showdown: Jordan Spieth.

Spieth revealed during his press conference on Tuesday at the Shriners Hospital for Children Open that he plans on tuning in for the winner-take-all match between Woods and Mickelson.

“I’m sure that myself and our friends will be watching it,” Spieth said. “There is certainly an interest from us, yeah, especially knowing the both of them. Having them mic’d up and knowing them personally it’ll be kind of extra special.”

Like the Tiger v. Phil showdown on November 23rd, the Shriners Hospital for Children Open will take place in Las Vegas this weekend. However, the Shriners Hospital Open will be played at TPC Summerlin while “The Match” will be held at Shadow Creek. The two courses are separated from each other by about 30 minutes.

Spieth, who is ranked No. 13 in the world, will be playing in his first PGA Tour event of the 2018-19 season. The three-time major champion will be playing alongside Cameron Champ and Aaron Wise in the first two rounds of the event. Champ is coming off a win at the Sanderson Farms Championship last weekend, while Wise was recently named the PGA Tour’s Rookie of the Year.

The trio will tee off from the 10th hole at 10:30 a.m. ET on Thursday morning. Spieth has the third-highest odds to win the tournament this weekend at 12/1, just behind Rickie Fowler and Tony Finau at 10/1.

However, not every pro will be tuning in for Tiger and Phil. World No. 4 Justin Thomas has said that he won’t be watching “The Match.”

“Love TW and Phil to death…. but there’s a 0% chance I order that,” the 25-year-old Thomas tweeted earlier this month when asked whether he would be watching. “I’ll be watching football!?”

We’re sure to hear more from other pros over the next month whether or not they will be tuning in for Tiger v. Phil.
