The first hole at Whistling Straits was not kind to Dustin Johnson Sunday afternoon at the PGA Championship.
Johnson stepped onto the first tee at 9-under par, six back of the 54-hole lead held by Jason Day. But the 31-year-old and nine-time PGA Tour winner would leave the hole with a quadruple-bogey eight, tumbling down the leaderboard and squashing any hope he had for a comeback win at the year’s final major.
Of course, Sundays at majors this year have been DJ’s nemesis, but today he began without a realistic shot at contending. However, he’s never had an opening hole Sunday at a major quite like this one. Check it out below.
