Blanks_200Kris Blanks was arrested Sunday at the Palm Beach International Airport when TSA workers found a loaded pistol in his carry-on backpack, according to Chris Alcantara of the Palm Beach Post.

Just after 6 a.m. Sunday, Kristoffer Blanks, was on his way to catch a plane headed to Charlotte, N.C., when he entered an airport security checkpoint and placed his black backpack onto an X-ray conveyor belt.

As the bag went through screening, a Transportation Safety Administration officer found a .40-caliber Glock 27 with eight rounds in the magazine, a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report said.

Deputies responded to the airport, took Blanks’ bag and arrested him on charges of carrying a concealed weapon.

According to the Palm Beach Post, Blanks told police that he had forgotten to remove the gun from his bag before he brought it to the airport; he also told police that he did not have a permit for a concealed weapon.

Blanks was taken to jail and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, according to his arrest report. He was released later that morning on $3,000 bail.

Blanks, 40, has been recovering from a shoulder injury and missed the cut at the Waste Management Open in Phoenix, his only PGA Tour start of 2013. He lives in Jupiter, Fla. Photo: Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office
