Rory McIlroy hangs out with LeBron at Heat-Spurs game

For a guy who grew up in Northern Ireland, Rory McIlroy sure likes his basketball.
McIlroy shot 70 in the final round of the Shell Houston Open on Sunday to finish T45, then headed to San Antonio for this week's Valero Texas Open. However, he got to San Antonio early enough to watch his friend LeBron James and the Miami Heat take on the hometown Spurs.

McIlroy sat next to former Spurs forward and avid golfer Bruce Bowen, who demonstrated his game face in this AP photo:

McIlroy and James are friendly and occasionally send texts to each other, and McIlroy has adopted the Miami Heat as his NBA team. (He lives in nearby Palm Beach, Fla.). Prior to the 2011 U.S. Open, McIlroy expressed support for James, who had just lost in the NBA Finals to the Dallas Mavericks.

“I think he’s being unfairly scrutinized,” McIlroy said. “Everyone’s gonna have bad days –- if it’s on a golf course or on a basketball court.”
When he made those remarks, McIlroy wasn't that far removed from his bad day at the 2011 Masters, when he shot 80 on Sunday after having the 54-hole lead. Later that week, he won the U.S. Open by eight strokes; the following season, LeBron James won his first NBA championship.
