Truth & Rumors: Beauty queen tees off in Ladies Indonesian Open

MissindonesiaMiss Indonesia traded tiaras for Titleists on Thursday to play in the first round of her national open.
Inez Putri, voted this year's Miss Indonesia (at right), and a top-15 finisher in the Miss World pageant, shot 79 in the opening round of Enjoy Jakarta Ladies Indonesian Open, according to a Reuters report. While that may not be down to par, it's not bad for the 23-year-old Bali native, who's spent more time on the catwalk than the course over the past few months.
Putri has higher ambitions for her game once her pageant run is done:

"I want to win gold at the [South East Asian] Games," said Putri, who has won gold and silver medals at Balinese national level.
"Winning a gold medal at (an) event like the Olympic Games, Asian Games or world championships is always what all athletes look for."

That will have to wait. According to the article, the Balinese Olympic Committee kicked Purti off the island's golf team once she became the national poster-girl, citing scheduling difficulties. But even that bit of bureaucracy doesn't appear to sour her mood:

"Those are social requirements. This is sports," she said. "I'm happy to play golf and promote Indonesia as golfing destination."
