What I’ll be Watching Thursday at WGC-CA Championship

Today, in the first round of the WGC-CA Championship at Doral, I’ll be curious to see what Englishman Ian Poulter does, playing with Soren Kjeldsen and Bubba Watson. Poulter was a picked by Euro captain Nick Faldo for last year’s matches, which the U.S. won, but in which Poulter shined. He won four points out of five, and complained that he was "body-checked" by Anthony Kim, although he never cited him by name. (Kim, by Poulter’s account, bumped into him while the two were on a tee, Kim as a spectator, Poulter in competition.) My guess is that it was nothing — Kim has a lot of body language — but Poulter could use the incident, and his superb play in the Ryder Cup, as an incentive to play hard in the States. Poulter is a huge talent, fun to watch, possibly a future winner of a British Open or a Masters. The Bermuda grass of Doral might take some getting used to for him, though.
