Garcia’s steady streak continues

Sergio_blog Sergio Garcia continued on Friday to bounce back from a bad start in the opening round. He posted 76-70 and was pleased with his rally, not his position.

“I’m two under for the last 29 holes,” he said. “The difference in the greens from yesterday was night and day. From three or four feet yesterday afternoon, you were almost praying the ball rolled straight. It could make you look stupid. You could miss a six-footer by four inches.”

Garcia played very solid golf Friday, giving himself numerous birdie chances. When he finally got one to drop on the seventh hole, he blew kisses to the gallery—or maybe to a higher authority. “It was like a little relief,” he said. “It was like they just didn’t want to go in.”

The round left Garcia at four over for the week. He still has a chance. “Unless the wind blows out there, four under is possible,” he said. “Somebody will be able to make the putts, but hopefully, they won’t.” (Photo: Donald Miralle/Getty Images)
