Pebble Beach update – Play suspended until Monday

Tournament officials at the AT&T just postponed the final round until Monday. Weather permitting, play will begin at 7:45 a.m. local time, in threesomes, off the first and 10th tees. Dustin Johnson has a four-shot lead over Mike Weir.
Heavy rain and wind clocked at 40 miles per hour (with gusts up to 50) greeted the Monterey Peninsula on Sunday morning. A Monterey pine crashed onto the third fairway. Rain puddled on the greens. The media food tent was taken down.
The last time the final round was postponed and played later in the season was 1998, when players returned to Pebble Beach in August to complete a tournament that had been deluged by rain. Phil Mickelson won the rain-shortened, 54-hole event.
