A Salty Masters Debut

A Salty Masters Debut

Don’t ask me to bring home a Masters hat or a souvenir flag. There won’t be room in my suitcase after I pack my Masters-logoed potato chips.

In fact, I’ve already prepared my catalog copy for eBay: “First-edition Masters potato chips, 1.5 oz (42.5g) in mint-condition green-and-white bag, unopened.” I figure they’ll be worth a fortune to collectors in fifty years.

These new chips, which debuted today at the Augusta National concession stands, are not the classic, yellow-bagged Lays chips of old. These are crispy, crunchy, curled-up kettle chips manufactured by Cape Cod Potato Chips of Hyannis, Mass. Bite into one of these babies when Tiger is taking the club back, and you’ll probably see your picture in the next day’s paper under the headline, “Caddie Slugs Golf Fan.”

Masters chips are also available in BBQ flavor.

Wait, this just in! A green-jacketed Augusta National member has just informed me that Masters chips are not the only new item at the concession stands: “We’ve got Masters MoonPies,” he says. “Check it out.” (Update: See the MoonPies here.)

I’m on it.
