Golf’s top 5 greatest hairstyle moments of 2019

On both the PGA and LPGA Tour, sporting a sponsor’s logo on your hat is a lucrative enterprise, so because the hat is on nearly all the time during a round, great hair moments are unfortunately few and far between. The best glimpse fans can get of a favorite player’s lustrous locks is when the hat is temporarily doffed at the end of a round — at least on the men’s tour.

But luckily for us, those quick snippets are more than enough fodder to gauge the quality of of a player’s ‘do. With that in mind, here are our top five greatest hairstyle moments of 2019.

5. Kyle Berkshire

As the top-ranked long-bomber in the world, Kyle Berkshire has an epic head of hair to go with his incredible World Long Drive Tour season, which included three wins, two runner-up finishes, and a semifinal appearance in the season’s six events.

4. Shane Lowry

Hey, a hair moment isn’t always limited to the strands that grow from your head, right? While there are plenty of examples of fab facial hair on Tour (looking at you, Beef!), Lowry’s thick Irish red beard is both natural and flattering, and it looked all the more appropriate as he posed for pictures with the claret jug at Royal Portrush.

Danielle Kang has a reputation as one of the most fun-loving and vivacious players on the LPGA Tour, so it’s fitting that this cool hue of icy lavender suited her to a tee.

2. Rickie Fowler

Rickie Fowler’s hair has always been a hot topic, but he really had tongues wagging with this late-spring look: a mullet. Like many things Fowler does, it was all for a good cause: “Mullet May” was intended to help raise awareness for Fowler’s charitable foundation, and based on the number of media outlets that ran a story on his unique look, it was mission accomplished.

1. Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy is another player who has had trademark locks for the majority of his career. He’s worn his hair long, short and has even dyed it blonde. But this look had observers comparing McIlroy’s “flow” to another legendary European golfer: Bernhard Langer. We have to admit, the resemblance in shape is quite uncanny.
