Here are the pairings and matchups for Day 2 foursomes at the Presidents Cup

December 12, 2019

It’s still early at the Presidents Cup, but the U.S. squad has found itself in a position it’s not familiar with.

Entering the day, the U.S. had led the Internationals in 31 straight Presidents Cup sessions dating back 14 years. But despite winning the first match, the Internationals took the next four to grab a 4-1 edge after Day 1 in Melbourne, Australia.

Tiger Woods and Justin Thomas teamed up in four-balls to win the first point of the event on Thursday at Royal Melbourne (which aired on Wednesday night in the States), but the U.S. failed to turn the other four around.

Woods was one of the U.S. team’s lone bright spots in the opening session. He made six birdies en route to an easy 4-and-3 win. Thomas and Woods are paired again for Friday’s foursomes session (alternate shot), this time though against Byeong Hun An and Hideki Matsuyama.

Matt Kuchar and Rickie Fowler will also both get their first starts of the week. Both sat for Thursday’s opening session. For the Internationals, Cameron Smith will get into the lineup for the first time on Friday, although Haotong Li, who sat on Thursday, will sit again on Friday.

Complete pairings and matchups are below.
