World No. 1 Justin Rose won’t have his trusty looper by his side for this week and a handful of upcoming events.
Golf Channel’s George Savaricas reported that Rose’s long-time caddie, Mark Fulcher, is having heart surgery in New York City on Thursday. Fulcher is having a heart valve replaced and will be out for an undetermined amount of him as he recovers.
Fulcher also tweeted the news on Wednesday.
Very grateful that @gareth_lord is working for the boss @JustinRose99 the next few weeks…. little heart surgery required .. hopefully be back sooner than later … grateful for all the support I’ve had … Come On Rosey #🌹

Henrik Stenson’s former caddie, Gareth Lord, will be on Rose’s bag until Fulcher returns. Savaricas said Fulcher is hoping to return for the Florida swing.
Rose is making his first start of 2019 at this week’s Desert Classic in La Quinta, Calif. Rose headlines a field that also includes Phil Mickelson and Jon Rahm.
