Are you swinging hard but hitting the ball nowhere? You may be releasing the club too soon, losing swing speed before you get to the ball. To get a feel for the proper release, try this drill.
Drop six balls into a headcover and grip it a few inches down the neck with your dominant hand.
Holding the headcover like a club, set up to a ball. Swing the headcover slowly to the top, then smoothly through the hitting area (left).
The headcover feels heaviest as your arm extends toward the ball. That’s the ideal release point. Find it in your swing and you’ll max out your power.
