What does life after Rory look like?
An inkling comes from a glimpse at the real estate listings, where we find word that Mr. McIlroy’s ex-girlfriend, Holly Sweeney, has unloaded her Belfast penthouse apartment, that was once rented by the cast and crew of the HBO series “Game of Thrones.”
The 24-year-old reality TV star and former rugby cheerleader bought the place, known as ‘The Boat,’ after she and Rory broke up in 2011.
Prior to that purchase, she and her smooth-swinging beau (dear reader, please take note here of the intentionally tabloid-style lingo) had lived together in a countryside mansion that featured a short golf course, a hot tub and a gym.
In 2012, Sweeney put the 1,898-square-duplex Belfast apartment on the market for 830,000 euros, but it didn’t sell despite boasting a rooftop garden, sweet harbor views and, according to the Irish Independent, plenty of space “to house her dozens of pairs of Christian Louboutin heels.”
In the meantime, she slashed the asking price, not once but twice. And now an unnamed buyer has finally bitten for a reported 600,000 euros.
That’s a nice lump of change but it’s still less than what her former boyfriend has been known to pull in for playing in a one-round exhibition match.
As for other insights into Sweeney’s life, they’re hard to come by. She’s kept a low public profile since news broke early this year of McIlroy’s engagement to Caroline Wozniacki.
