Jason Dufner Hits the Worst Putt in the History of Professional Golf

They call it Silly Season for a reason.
As Matt Kuchar and Harris English were setting the tournament record Sunday at the Franklin Templeton Shootout, Jason Dufner was quietly making history in his own way.
At the par-4 9th hole, Dufner faced a mid-length putt that would give him and teammate Dustin Johnson a birdie on the hole.
Dufner addressed his ball, and then something happened that you may never see again at a pro golf event: he accidentally hit his putt sideways.

Johnson, opponents Chad Campbell and Mark Calcavecchia and Dufner himself temporarily broke down with laughter, before Johnson knocked in his short par putt to end the hole. Dufner finished the scene by using his putter like a baseball bat to hit the offending golf ball into a greenside pond.
2013 has been quite the year for “The Duf.”
