Pros and fans giddy over Ben Hogan’s vintage clubs at Charles Schwab Challenge
The PGA Tour’s annual stop at Colonial will always be a perfect time to honor one of the game’s greats, Ben Hogan, and on Tuesday pros got a chance to turn back the clock and use some of Hogan’s clubs on the range.
To sum: technology certainly has changed.
Hogan has a long and storied history with Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, which includes five wins there. There’s a statue of his likeness and tons of Hogan memorabilia in the clubhouse. This is all, of course, why the Ben Hogan Foundation decided this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge was the perfect place to bring out some of Hogan’s classic clubs, some of which Tour players even tried out on the range. Austin Cook’s caddie, Kip Henley, was in awe of the display, which included clubs, shoes and more. “How cool is this?” he said.
