Players Watch Soccer During Rain Delay at U.S. Open

Lightning forced the USGA to clear the course Thursday morning at the U.S. Open. Inevitably, that meant hoardes of media members flooding to the media dining tent because well … that’s what we do.

But hungry, underpaid journalists weren’t the only ones who showed up. Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer, Luke Donald and their caddies came to take in a little football err… soccer.

England was locked up with Wales at Euro 2016 and despite a quest to win a major — which would be a first for Westwood and Donald, the two Englishmen — the soccer match was apparently important enough to brave the elements for.

That, or the media tent was closer than the clubhouse.
