Golfer Strikes Rock, Causes Brush Fire at California Course

September 8, 2016

A Los Angeles golfer is giving a whole new meaning to the phrase “my game is on fire” after starting one at the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Course earlier this week.

According to local news reports, the brush fire, which burned for 3 1/2 hours, was caused by a golf club striking a rock on the course. California has been burdened by severe droughts for more than five years.

The fire burned over 20 acres in the first 90 minutes and at one point had approximately 140 local firefighters on the ground and in the air to contain it.

No one was injured and no structural damage was caused to any surrounding areas or buildings.
