Though golfers commonly compete in their Sunday best, sometimes golf requires players to ditch some of their attire. Like almost all of it, all for the sake of an attempt at par.
European Tour player Haydn Porteous had one of those lose-the-attire moments Thursday during the first round of the Tshwane Open in South Africa. Porteous was 2-over for the day and playing the par-4 4th hole, his 13th for the day.
When his second shot leaked out right of the green, he found it barely playable on the edge of the water hazard. Off came the socks, shoes, hat and shirt. The rest can be seen below. He would card a double-bogey. Not much later, he took his footwear off again for another shot from the water.

Porteous’ most impressive feat might have been the rally he performed following that brutal double bogey. He finished his last five holes with four birdies for an even-par 70 on the day.
