Odyssey Works Versa #1 Putter

Category: Blade Putters
Price: $180
34”, 35” shaft lengths
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: Contrasting silver and black strips clearly define face angle at address.

DISTANCE CONTROL: So easy to use, with a consistent roll on most every putt; little to no punishment for off-center strikes; heavier weight with good overall balance—testers are able to swing it in a repeatable manner, which translates to intuitive distance control.
FEEL: The metal-mesh face insert imparts a precise feel with some pop on both center and off-center hits; pleasant click on pure hits, with a quieter sound on slightly off-center ones; many guys find that the substantial weight helps groove their stroke naturally, making it hard to miss the sweet spot.
LOOK: Testers like its appearance; one of the better-looking models, with strong visual cues; sleek, classic blade with a silver-black-silver contrast—the lengthwise color strips offer a helpful reminder when aiming to the target; rounded edges and a honeycomb-grated metal insert complete the look.

The ball rolls quickly off the face, which, for some, takes time to adjust to; while it’s forgiving for a blade, there’s not a lot to help improve your stroke; wet grass can get stuck inside the grate-like grooves on the face.

BOTTOM LINE: There’s a lot of technology rolled into this modern version of a classic blade. The Works Versa #1 provides some forgiveness on off-center hits, plus its lively face insert gets the ball rolling swiftly.
