Odyssey Tank Cruiser #7 Putter

Category: Midsize Mallet Putters
Price: $130
35”, 38” shaft lengths
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: Players can tweak weight in the head (to 365, 375 or 385 grams) and butt to achieve a specific feel.

DISTANCE CONTROL: The winged head shape does well to boost forgiveness; off-center hits roll out the same as center strikes, and once you get settled with the proper weighting, you’ll never look back; the club’s heft helps some guys develop a rhythmic, repeatable stroke.
FEEL: The feel changes as testers adjust the club’s weighting in the head and grip, a characteristic that’s special to this model; for most guys, impact sensation is crisp and firm, perfect for nailing short putts into the back of the cup; mis-hits are so well compensated that there’s rarely a discernible difference in feel compared with square strikes.
LOOK: Slightly larger, sturdier and bulkier than a typical mid-mallet; the cool shape with wings off the back frames and aims the ball, and the black-on-white alignment aids are a hit; typical fine finish, just what you’d expect from Odyssey.

The face insert can be too soft to determine exactly how you struck the ball—a few testers want more feedback and feel; some players prefer a slightly smaller clubhead in a “midsize” mallet design.

BOTTOM LINE: The counterbalanced Tank Cruiser #7 comes with adjustable weights that can be used in the clubhead and grip to help your stroke and get the ball rolling consistently with the feel you want.
