Nike Victory Red Hybrid

Nike Victory Red Hybrid

From Golf Magazine (ClubTest, May 2010)

Category: Better Player Hybrids

We tested: 15°, 18°, 21° and 24° with Aldila VooDoo graphite shaft

Company line: "We set out to create a product that meets the needs of the best players in the world. We open the face angle slightly and shift the center of gravity to optimize workability and distance. We achieve a higher launch angle with significantly less spin, while the 455 ultra-thin steel face and split compression channel boost distance."

PROS: One of the highest-rated clubs in its category; testers can shape shots on demand; quite versatile, even around greens; many panelists hit these five to 10 yards longer than their current hybrids; easy to hit on a mid-trajectory flight; consistent performers from loft to loft; stable at impact; fun clubs to have in the bag; the VR does what you wish you could do with long irons.

CONS: Some testers find it has a nondescript feel at impact; a few guys struggle with the VR from rough.

$170, graphite;
