Nike SQ MachSpeed Hybrid

From Golf Magazine (ClubTest, May 2010)

Category: Game-Improvement Hybrids

We tested: 2h (18°), 3h (21°), 4h (24°), 5h (27°) and 6h (30°) with SQ ProForce AXIVCore by UST Mamiya graphite shaft

Company line: "These hybrids optimize aerodynamics and reduce drag to deliver more speed than any previous Nike hybrid. Tour-proven square technology (weight is moved to the corners) delivers stability and forgiveness, while the ultra-thin, 455 steel face produces consistent, explosive distance when it counts."

PROS: Heavyish head feels substantial, maintains stability through impact; rewards center contact with long, straight shots; many testers experience a lower trajectory than usual with a penetrating flight; clubhead eats through rough to get the ball airborne; preserves distance on misses; sharp, harder feel than most hybrids gives immediate feedback.

CONS: The least attractive hybrid—it makes proper alignment more challenging due to its large, boxy shape and closed face; some find that it's not the easiest to hit consistently on the screws; it doesn't automatically fix left-to-right shots despite the closed face.
