Nike Method Matters M5-12 Putter Review: ClubTest 2016
NIKE METHOD MATTER M5-12
CATEGORY: Midsize Mallet Putters
WE TESTED: 34″, 35″ lengths
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: The 345-gram head has a soft resin grooved face insert that gets putts rolling quickly.
DISTANCE CONTROL: Excellent control—automatic inside 20 feet; consistent even on putts hit toward the toe and heel; putts propel forward without skipping or sliding; extra mass around the perimeter makes it all the more forgiving.
FEEL: Sublime—its resonant insert gives you instantaneous feedback; covers up mistakes, although there’s enough difference to know you’ve missed; excellent balance smooths out your stroke.
LOOK: Great marriage of technology and simplicity; large, round head looks forgiving; guys go for the lively color combo—matte black head, striped red insert and white alignment line.
Some prefer a thicker grip; not for those who want a big difference in feedback between pure and off-center strikes.
BOTTOM LINE: One of the top midsize mallets, the M5-12 could work for players of all levels who want stability, exceptional feel and a smooth roll.
