Boccieri Heavy Lite-Weight D3-L Putter
Category: High-MOI Mallet Putters
WE TESTED: 34", 35" shaft lengths
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: The stainless steel clubhead has a high center of gravity. A 65-gram weight in the grip end of the shaft helps to quiet the hands during the stroke.
DISTANCE CONTROL: Very good inside 10 feet — keeps your stroke square through the ball and produces consistent speeds.
FEEL: Heavy, yet surprisingly responsive on center hits; impact delivers a "plink" sound; good stability from heel to toe; gets the ball rolling well regardless of where it's struck on the face.
LOOK: Relatively compact head for a high-MOI putter; elongated white sightline coupled with cylinder-shaped design make it easy to find the sweet spot; double bend shaft gives an unobstructed view of the ball.
The back is too unorthodox-looking for some testers; others find the slightly metallic, hollow sound and feel to be a turnoff; not the best at controlling distance from long range.
BOTTOM LINE: A good choice for someone who struggles with the yips or has trouble making a wrist-free stroke. It's a very easy putter to swing on line.
