Cobra's new Fly-Z irons ($799 steel, $899 graphite) are designed to provide balanced performance for players of all ability levels. A visible "speed channel," in the sole and behind the clubface is made to provide higher COR and rebound at impact, creating faster ballspeeds and distance on shots struck across a wide area of the clubface. Enhanced feel is provided by a Urethane cavity insert located behind the clubface that dampens vibration at impact while a deep cavity that undercuts the heel and toe leads to greater forgiveness on off-center hits.
The Fly-Z irons are available in stock black or a choice of four custom colors (white, blue, orange, red) and come standard with two hybrids and seven irons (3-4h, 5-GW), but can also be ordered with a variety of iron and hybrid combinations. Stock shafts are 95g FST Steel or Matrix graphite.
Fly-Z irons will hit retail shops on January 23, 2015.
An oversized Fly-Z XL iron ($499 steel) set aimed at players looking for distance and high trajectory shots is also coming soon. Available in full iron set or combo set ($599 steel, $699 graphite) with three hybrids and five irons, the Fly-Z XL irons feature a dual hollow cavity design and low CG location for consistently higher launch angles. Thinner clubfaces combined with Speed Channel technology provide increased ballspeeds and distance across a wider part of the hitting area. Two different cavity designs in the 4-8 and the 9-GW provide enhanced control on scoring shots and improved game-improvement performance on the mid and long irons.
A women's Fly-Z XL Combo Set with three hybrids and four irons will also be available.
Expect the Fly-Z XL irons to hit retail shops on November 14, 2014.
