Brainstorm Happy Putter
Category: Blade Putters
WE TESTED: 34”, 35” shaft lengths
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: The head can be adjusted for loft, lie, offset and overall weighting.
DISTANCE CONTROL: Easy to control, especially on shorter putts; consistent and very forgiving on mis-hits; doesn’t take long to figure out lags once the putter is adjusted to fit your swing.
FEEL: Despite the unconventional look, it has a smooth, traditional feel through the stroke; stable on all hits, with little difference no matter where you catch it at impact; testers are pleasantly surprised by the softness of the face.
LOOK: “Happy” says it all—bright green and blue make it a celebration on a stick; innovative and unique, with lots of visible technology; the head is almost mallet-like in size, with alignment aids that can turn short, testy putts into no-brainers.
What looks fun and cheerful to some is busy, a bit distracting and garish to others; the sheer number of adjustability features could be intimidating; on some settings, the alignment aid is partially blocked by the adjustable hosel.
BOTTOM LINE: This is for tinkerers, tech-heads and do-it-yourself handymen. It’s easy to tweak loft, lie angle, offset and weight to fit your stroke—so many options mean it can work for just about any stroke or ability level. Plus, the feel through the swing and at impact can be genuinely enjoyable.
