Adams Idea Tech Irons
$799, steel; $899, graphite
Adams new Idea Tech hybrid-irons are designed with slow swingers and high handicappers in mind.
The irons (6-PW) have a revamped sole slot that extends further around the toe, where many mid- to high-handicappers tend to strike it, creating more consistent face flex-and yardage-on those misses. For the first time, Adams has added bulge-and-roll to the faces of its 6- and 7-irons. The company says this feature will give higher-handicappers more help on directional misses.
The new-look hybrids (the crown slot is hidden by an acryllic material) have a heavy tungsten stainless steel back weight for a lower, deeper CG than previous Idea hybrids to promote a higher launch. The hybrids (3-5) also have a “cut-thru” sole slot to maintain ball speed on misses and improve overall forgiveness. What’s more, the set’s shafts feature progressive tip sizes-thinner, more flexible shafts in hybrids launch the ball higher, while thicker tips in the short irons control trajectory and spin, for more precise shots into greens.
