GURGAON, India (AP) — English star Laura Davies won the Women’s Indian Open on Sunday for her 77th worldwide victory, beating Thailand’s Nontaya Srisawang, South Africa’s Tandi Cuningham and Sweden’s Louise Friberg with a birdie on the first hole of a playoff.
Davies eagled the par-5 18th in regulation for a 2-under 70 to match Nontaya (71), Cuningham (73) and Friberg (70) at 3-under 213 on the DLF Golf & Country Club course. In the playoff, Davies reached the green on the 18th in two and two-putted for the victory.
At 47, Davies broke her own record as the oldest winner in Ladies European Tour history. The four-time major champion has 44 LET victories, 20 LPGA Tour titles and 13 other tour victories.
She has five LET victories this year, also winning in New Zealand, Germany, Austria and Spain.
Davies opened with rounds of 65 and 78.
