For Keegan Bradley, a final grouping on Sunday’s round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open might coincide with his plans to watch the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX.
The die-hard Pats fan and Vermont native reportedly scrambled for tickets once the team won their divisional championship, and managed to secure four spots for himself, girlfriend Jillian Stacey, fellow golfer Brendan Steele and his wife Anastassia.
In an interview with the New York Times, Bradley, who has two top-25 finishes at TPC Scottsdale, discussed his game plan going into the sports double-header weekend in Phoenix.
“I’ve watched every minute of every one of their games this year,” Bradley said. “I don’t want to miss the start of the Super Bowl.”
That may prove tricky if Bradley finds himself in the final grouping on Sunday; TPC Scottsdale is about a 30-minute drive from the University of Phoenix Stadium, and that’s when traffic is moving.
But if that happens? Things could be worse, said Bradley.
“If I ever was going to miss the start of the Super Bowl, I guess being in one of the final groups, with a chance to win a PGA Tour event, would be the best-case scenario.”
