Women's U.S. Open ratings best since 2007 and better than men's at Travelers

Ratings for Michelle Wie's victory at the U.S. Women Open at Pinehurst No. 2 were up 89 percent from last year and the telecast drew its best ratings since 2007, NBC announced, via Sports Media Watch.

Wie won the tournament by two shots over the world's No. 1 player Stacy Lewis, claiming her first major victory. The U.S. Women's Open scored a 1.7 overnight rating for NBC and beat CBS' coverage of the PGA Tour Travelers Championship on CBS (1.2).

Numbers for Wie's victory were up across the board with Saturday's ratings up 71 percent from 2013.
