Justin Thomas is going to need a new club.

This morning, while competing at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Thomas snapped his club in half on the trunk of a tree. In the video you can see him sadly picking up the scattered pieces of his Titleist iron. Bad luck, Justin. The PGA Tour captioned their clip of the mishap “When you really need a bat boy…” and more than one golf writer chimed in on Twitter to comment on Thomas’ misfortune.

Thomas shot a 72 in the first round and is currently ranked 38th in the world. Check out video of the ill-fated swing below.
