In a field with Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, Phil Mickelson and plenty more of the best players in the world, the underdog story of 38-year-old Jim Herman has taken center stage at the Shell Houston Open on Sunday.

Trying to hold off Dustin Johnson and Henrik Stenson, Herman was tied for the lead heading into the 16th hole. His tee shot found the rough just left of the green, but luckily just avoided a bunker.

For most players chasing their first-ever PGA Tour title, getting something close to the hole would be a solid play. Herman had other ideas, jarring the shot for birdie to take a one-shot lead. Check it out below:

Herman went on to win his first PGA Tour title.
