Henrik Stenson did not win the 2015 FedEx Cup, but his consolation prize--and how he earned it--is quite impressive.

The 39-year-old Swede, who won the FedEx Cup in 2013, finished T2 at the Tour Championship thanks to a 57-foot birdie putt he drained on the 72nd hole at East Lake. The birdie moved him to 5-under and the T2 finish was worth 866.66 FedEx Cup points, enough to vault him ahead of Jason Day for second place in the season-long race by a mere 17 points.

Second-place in the final standings is worth $3 million, while third is worth $2 million. And that doesn’t factor in the $618,750 Stenson won in a three-way tie for second with Danny Lee and Justin Rose.

"Luckily made a good putt on the last and that gives a little bit of a consolation, I guess," said Stenson after back-to-back 72s on the weekend.
