US Open 2016: Winner's Purse, Payout Breakdown at Oakmont

Lots of big names fell victim to Oakmont at the 2016 U.S. Open, including Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler.

OAKMONT, Pa. -- For the second straight year, the winner of the 2016 U.S. Open will get a paycheck of $1.8 million.

The USGA released the payouts for this year's national championship Saturday night, and the top-two finishers will both win more than $1 million out of the $10 million total purse.

First place receives $1.8 million, the same Jordan Spieth won last year, and the runner-up gets $1.08 million. Third place gets $677,558, fourth receives $478,253 and fifth takes home $398,544. The 79 players who missed the cut all receive $4,000.

Danny Willett won $1.8 million for his victory in April’s Masters, the same Spieth earned the year before. Check out the entire payout breakdown below.
