Davis Love III has said all the right things since he was tabbed to lead the U.S. Ryder Cup squad in 2016.
In an interview with BBC Radio, he continued the trend when he was asked about Tiger Woods' chances of being on the roster when the event returns to the United States at Minnesota's Hazeltine National Golf Club.
"He's expecting to make the team," Love said. "He and I keep in touch a lot more than we have ... He still has a good attitude and is working hard."
Tiger Woods confidant Notah Begay reported Woods' status for the 2015 Masters was '50-50' but rapidly improving as we approach the season's first major. Woods has not completed an event from start to finish since the 2014 British Open.
He does have one leg up on the competition: Woods is part of a newly-formed Ryder Cup committee consisting of Love, Woods, Phil Mickelson and three PGA of American officials.
"I wouldn't count him out just yet," Love said.
