Tiger Woods’s departure from the field at the Safeway Open may have been unfortunate for many in the golf world, but not Max Homa.
The 26-year-old and recent Web.com Tour graduate was the first alternate Monday morning, and jumped into the field Monday afternoon after Woods announced his withdrawal. Homa’s last PGA Tour event was coincidentally also Woods’s last event, the 2015 Wyndham Championship. Woods finished T10 and Homa missed the cut.
On Monday, their careers converged again, and Homa was quite appreciative after receiving the news.
Thanks Tigers. Next time we hang out, dinner's on me. Get back out here soon plz.— max homa (@maxhoma23) October 10, 2016
