European Tour pro Thorbjorn Olesen faced off against defending champion Rory McIlroy in the opening round of the WGC-Match Play and arrived at the 18th hole all square with the world's third-ranked player.

Olesen needed to navigate a short greenside chip to keep the pressure on McIlroy. The result: a brutal shank.

It would cost Olesen the match. McIlroy would par, Olesen would bogey, handing McIlroy an early victory.
