Watch: The Clutch Shots That Clinched the Irish Open for McIlroy

Rory McIlroy Finishes Strong to Win Irish Open
Rory McIlroy shot a 3-under 69 to win the Irish Open on Sunday at the K Club in Ireland. It's McIlroy's first time winning his national open.

Rory McIlroy has dreamed of winning the Irish Open since he was a small child. On Sunday he did just that -- thanks to these clutch shots coming down the stretch.

McIlroy began the final round with a three-shot lead, but thanks to some great play from Russell Knox and hail from Mother Nature he saw that gap disappear by the 14th hole. By the time he got to the 16th tee McIlroy trailed Knox by one, and it looked as if his chances of winning were beginning to dwindle.

That's when McIlroy put on a show.

With a finish that eerily resembled his British Open win at Hoylake, McIlroy hit a magical fairway wood on the 16th that led to the go-ahead two-putt birdie, and he hit yet another amazing fairway wood into the 18th. This time it led to a tap-in eagle and the Irish Open title. Video of both shots can be seen below.
