Rory McIlroy Plays St. Andrews From Home in Video Game

Rory McIlroy Says He Won't Play British Open
Rory McIlroy announced on Wednesday that his ankle injury will keep him out of this year's British Open at St. Andrews.

Rory McIlroy is playing St. Andrews this week after all.

After suffering a torn ligament in his ankle while playing soccer with friends two weeks ago and officially withdrawing from the British Open, the World No. 1 still made an appearance at the Old Course from the comfort of his couch via EA Sports' Rory McIlroy PGA Tour 2015.

The 26-year-old appeared to be handling missing the Open well, interacting with Facebook user's comments on a video he posted to his personal Facebook page. One fan asked him if he was in the lead yet, to which he replied, "Not yet!"

McIlroy hasn't confirmed when he'll be back playing on tour. But on July 14, fellow Northern Irishman Darren Clarke told media at the Association of Golf Writers’ dinner in St. Andrews that the injury could end his season.

Check out McIlroy's Facebook post below.
