Report: Timberlake, Wahlberg to Join Fowler, McIlroy in June Match

Rory, Rickie to Play Primetime Match Ahead of U.S. Open
Reports say that Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler will play a match in primetime on CBS ahead of the U.S. Open, the first of its kind in over a decade.

Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler won't be the only stars facing off in primetime in June.

Make room for Justin Timberlake and Mark Wahlberg.

WXYZ Detroit is reporting through sources that Timberlake and Wahlberg will join Fowler and McIlroy for their upcoming match and TV special at Detroit Golf Club the week before the U.S. Open. The Associated Press reported on Monday night that Quicken Loans was finalizing a match centered around Fowler and McIlroy for June 7 in Detroit and that it would include a celebrity component, which the AP said was still to be determined at the time.

When reached by GOLF.com, a spokesperson for the Detroit Golf Club declined to comment on either report.

A spokesperson for Quicken Loans sent the following statement to GOLF.com: "Quicken Loans is constantly exploring ways to highlight the energy and technology revolution taking place in Detroit, while supporting the community where we live, work and play. A primetime golf event with two of the world's greatest golfers is definitely a unique opportunity to achieve this goal. While there is no imminent announcement about such a unique event, we continue to explore ways to show off this great American city."

Wahlberg and Timberlake, who are both quality golfers, played in last week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
