GAINESVILLE Va.— Some big changes were required to the PGA Tour's 2015-16 schedule in order to include golf in the Olympics in Brazil.

A few big-name events were reshuffled, and it will be a busy summer for the top Tour pros.

The PGA Championship, golf’s traditional fourth major in August, gets bumped up to the end of July next year due to the new Olympic golf events. The Olympic tournament will fill the PGA Championship’s usual date, Aug. 11-14, while the PGA will be held July 25-31.

The John Deere Classic leaves its usual Fourth of July weekend and goes to Aug. 8-14, the same weekend as the Olympics.

The Wyndham Championship will follow the Olympics, then the FedEx Cup playoff series will begin. The Barclays, Deutsche Bank Championships and BMW Championship will be played in consecutive weeks, followed by an off week, then the Tour Championship will conclude the series Sept. 19-25.

The Ryder Cup, which will be held at Hazeltine in Minneapolis, will immedately follow the Tour Championship and be held Sept. 26-Oct. 2.

In another significant change, the Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone in Akron, Ohio, will move from its usual spot the week before the PGA in August to the last week in June. The Bridgestone will be held June 27-July 3.

In other shuffling, the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines moves to the last week of January, just ahead of the Waste Management Phoenix Open (it was the other way around this year); the Quicken Loans National moves to the week after the U.S. Open in June; the Greenbrier Classic shifts into the spot the week before the British Open traditionally held by the John Deere Classic; and the Canadian Open remains in late July, but is now played the week before the PGA.
