Thursday offered up ideal conditions for competitors in the first round of the 2016 PGA Championship, even if scorecards did not reflect the calm weather. Friday, however, will be a different story.
According to The Weather Channel, thunderstorms will roll into Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey Thursday night and continue hitting the area throughout the early morning. Players with the earliest second round tee times will need to pack rain gear in their golf bags, as the rain will likely keep up for at least the start of their rounds, before halting around midday.
With clear conditions and a wet, soft course before them, players in the afternoon wave may have a distinct advantage over their morning counterparts. Rickie Fowler, Jason Day, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy are all set to tee it up after the weather has passed through the area.
