Olympics 2016: Men's Golf Round 1 Scores

Trending: Fraser Leads in Golf's Return to the Olympics
The first round of Olympic golf in 112 years is complete, and an Australian is in the lead -- but probably not the Australian you'd think.

Round 1 of the Olympic golf event -- and the quest to claim the sport's first gold medal in 112 years -- is in the books in Rio de Janeiro. Aussie Marcus Fraser rose to the top of the leaderboard with an eight-under 63, followed by Canada's Graham DeLaet at 66. Justin Rose (67) made an ace on the fourth hole, the first-ever in Olympic golf.

Some speculated that Gil Hanse's "Australian sandbelt" characteristics may have been a help to Fraser on this course.

Justin Rose made a historic hole-in-one in Rio de Janeiro in Round 1 of the Olympic men's golf tournament.

The Americans didn't quite have the morning they'd hoped for: with the exception of Matt Kuchar, all of them finished over par. Kuchar is currently T-11. Here's the full leaderboard. For more scoring details, visit the International Golf Federation site.
