When she arrived at the par-4 16th hole Saturday at the Kia Classic, Minjee Lee was toward the end of an uneventful round, stuck at even par for the day. When she left she was at three under after making the shot of the week, if not the year.
Lee holed her tee shot on the 16th for an unlikely par-4 ace. The tournament organizers moved the tees up for the third round to shorten the hole to 276 yards. It was short, but still playing longer than most par-3s on the PGA Tour.
The albatross ace moved Lee into a tie for 18th heading to the final round, nine shots behind leader Lydia Ko.
