Jason Day and Dustin Johnson Re-Sign with TaylorMade

David Abeles: TaylorMade Athletes Unparalleled in 2016
President and CEO of TaylorMade-Adidas Golf, David Abeles, talks about the brand's success on Tour this year, including with World Nos. 1 and 2 Jason Day and Dustin Johnson.

Jason Day and Dustin Johnson, the world's top-ranked and second-ranked players, respectively, have re-upped their equipment deals with TaylorMade, the company said Wednesday.

Terms of the deals were not immediately available.

Both Day (2006) and Johnson ('07) have been under contract with TaylorMade for the past decade. It was unclear until today, however, whether either player would re-sign at the conclusion of their latest contracts, given the Adidas Group put TaylorMade up for sale earlier this year. Day and Johnson are the anchors of a TaylorMade Tour staff that includes Justin Rose (world No. 11), Sergio Garcia (No. 12), plus young guns Jon Rahm, Beau Hossler and Jordan Niebrugge.

"I chose TaylorMade at the onset of my PGA Tour career because they made products that performed,” Day said in a statement released by the company. "They've supported me on my quest for world No. 1 since day one."

Johnson, 32, won his first major title in June at the U.S. Open and is coming off a win two weeks ago at the BMW Championship. "I chose TaylorMade because they made products that outperformed anything else I had ever played," Johnson said in a statement released by TaylorMade. "Since day one, I've had a great relationship with the TaylorMade team and especially the guys who support me every week out on Tour."

In an interview with GOLF.com last week, David Abeles, TaylorMade's president and CEO, couldn't comment on player contracts, terms or conditions, but he did say, "If you were to ask all of them [Tour pros], 'why do you prefer TaylorMade-Adidas Golf,' it's because they believe that the products we make for them are the best performing products in the world. And they trust their games to those performance attributes that we bring to them."
