Geoff Ogilvy Hits Ball Onto Ian Poulter's Balcony In British Open Practice Round

Scorecard Stories: Travelin' Joe Plays the Old Course at St. Andrews
GOLF Magazine's Travelin' Joe Passov recounts his various experiences playing the Old Course at St. Andrews, the site of the 2015 British Open.

Ian Poulter has a great view of the Old Course this week, but it might be a tad too close to the action for comfort.

On Tuesday morning, Poulter's son, Luke, found a golf ball sitting on the balcony of the their room at the Old Course Hotel that sits to the right of No. 17 hole at the Old Course. Poulter used Periscope to broadcast a video with himself and Luke spotting the ball that somehow came to rest on his narrow balcony.

"We woke up this morning and opened the curtains to see, and actually, Luke spotted it first," Poulter said in the video. "My balcony is only little. It's a hell of a shot. It's a Titleist 2 with a black and red stripe on it. We're going to pick it up and take it back to the range."

With the help of fellow PGA Tour pro Graham DeLaet, Geoff Ogilvy was indeed revealed as the culprit whose drive went way, way right off the 17th tee.

Poulter found Ogilvy at the range on Tuesday and got him to sign the potential souvenir. In the Periscope video, Poulter said he would conduct a giveaway for fans to win the ball. Stay tuned!
