The soccer injury Rory McIlroy suffered this week left his status for the British Open in doubt -- and also revealed that one FOX News contributor is not a fan of the world's No. 1 golfer.

Monday afternoon on the show Outnumbered, as on-screen anchor Harris Faulkner began transitioning from McIlroy’s injury news to the next story, FOX contributor Lisa "Kennedy" Montgomery can be heard saying, “He’s a leprechaun. I can’t stand him.”

McIlroy is from Northern Ireland and the term "leprechaun" is considered a slur when used as a reference to Irish people.



Faulkner appeared shocked by the exchange and quickly moved on to the next topic. Here's what she later tweeted:


UPDATE: Here's Kennedy's response. Her anger toward Rory is based on how he broke up with Caroline Wozniacki.  "Believe me, I wanted to call him much worse," Kennedy said.
