PGA Tour pro Shawn Stefani sank a six-foot putt for birdie in the final round of the Wyndham Championship to turn in a 66 for the day. He finished T14 in the tournament, but the biggest victory was knowing he'd made it into the field for the FedEx Cup playoffs, and therefore securing his Tour card for the next year. His Sunday round vaulted him from 133rd to 123rd in the FedEx rankings. The top 125 advance to the playoffs and get PGA Tour cards for the next season -- and job security.
Afterward, Stefani reflected on what this moment meant to him. "I've worked hard. I feel like I deserve it," he said, visibly emotional. "I feel like the game gave me something today."
Golf can be a cruel sport, especially to the grinders who tough it out week after week. For Stefani, making that putt felt like the biggest win in the world.
