They call it the most dangerous job in golf for a reason.

Charles Hill, a 63-year-old golf-ball diver, tragically drowned scouring the depths of a pond at Dogwood Hills Golf Course in Waverly, Ohio on Tuesday morning, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

Hill, an experienced golf-ball diver, was diving with his son under a contract with the course when he failed to surface from a dive. His son called the authorities, and Hill's body was later recovered in about 8 feet of water 50 feet from shore.

Police said there were no signs of trauma and an investigation into the official cause of drowing is ongoing.
